Anyone see the new H3 commercial yet.
GM is almost dead and they bring to market the H3?
They disgrace the Hummer by building the H2 which is just a Yukon or Suburban frame with the boxy body on top. Now the H3......way to go GM.

25,000 people out of work. Nice work guys. I wonder if they realize the backlash this will cause with die-hard GM buyers. I don't think many of these "buy American only" types are going to take too kindly to an American institution such as GM moving it's production to China.
Of course, the did move production to Mexico a few years back... what's the difference? -

I sometimes wonder what kind of brain damage HUMMER owners have. They're big, they burn gas, and they don't even remotely "look cool". I just don't get it.
It's about on par with a UPS van or short school bus.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Sorry, I wasn't referring to the H3 production. I was referring to the recent news of GM cutting 25,000 jobs and moving production of several of their vehicles to China. Thought it was a bit relevant. Apparently no one agrees.

I don't see anything referencing moving GM vehicle production to China.

The 1973 oil embargo should served as a wake-up call. Unfortunately, it never did. That was more than 3 decades ago. IF GM, Ford, ... Chrysler were to invest on fuel efficient technology, they will not be in such dire situation. Remember, Uncle Sam had to bail out Chrysler... and Lee Iacoca was the hero.
Now, GM has to get hybrid technology from Toyota. Hybrid car market dominated by Honda and Toyota.
GM & Ford should stop putting gas guzzler dinasour on the road... SELL MORE FUEL EFFICIENT CAR OR GO BUST ! -
In the USA you can get a very large tax deduction for buying large vehicles such as a Hummer and almost nothing for buying a Hybrid. They are also considering charging a per mile tax on cars to make up for the lose of gas taxes from fuel efficient cars. It's all about money! I also heard the UK is considering a $2.00 per mile tax in conjested areas.

I have read somewhere that oil companies are trying to harvest oil from Alaska, which could be devasting to the ecology of that State. Oil giants try to sell the oil shortage to americans and government, I think they will win thier case. Than on the other hand The auto industry lobbied and won about having ffuel efficiency standards on Mini vans and SUV's. We need to stop our corporations from running our countries to the ground. Rage against the machine my friends!!! -garman

Actually one of the reasons why I won't buy a new car is because I'd be getting nothing but newness, higher insurance premiums, and probably worse gas mileage then what I get now. And my car was made in 1995. You would think by now I could expect at least a modest increase in gas mileage, but there are very very few new cars that get better gas mileage than my 1995 Escort. I think I'm reasonable in expecting a 20% or so increase in gas mileage over the past decade, but only a few crappy hybrids that I wouldn't touch even come close.

GM is worldwide , as is almost every other car company in the world ..
it is like people in UK should not buy jags because they are fords -- just nonsense .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

harvest ?
Everyone should know by now that oil does not come fro dinos or plankton or other other organic material (as i said here before several years ago) , it is an natural material and there is likely a lot more of it than what we know about. Deep depth drilling (way way beyond any chance that it came from a living source) keeps showing up more of the stuff and it may even be, still being created."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

btw -- asking someone to shoot someone , these days, is not a really good idea on a public board....
people can get trouble ...
it is also not very nice and if you were in their family, you would find it disturbing to say the least ..
