I just got my second replacement under warranty for this portable w/o screen sold mostly over the web. The things are built like toys and the lasers went bad after a month on the first two. If this one dies I'm gonna drop-kick it into the dumpster and be done with RJtech forever. The warranty people are polite enough, they must know they have real QC problems.
The reason I'm still bothering with this gadget is that when it works, it is amazing. Plays Divx 3/4/5, and most Xvid as well. Plus all the usual Mpeg and -R/RW disks like newer China imports. It even has some undocumented features; it plays ordinary .avi and some .WMV files but without sound, it plays compressed .wav files, it plays CD+G disks correctly, unlike some other DVD players. But what I like is the sound quality. I have tried a lot of cheapo DVD players, but this one has noticeably better sound quality on MP3 files and MPEG of all types. I'm not sure why but the manual says it downmixes Dolby Digital to 2 channel stereo, so maybe that's different.
If only the lasers didn't die so quick.....

Well, I think 2 ( the number of replacements) is the magic number. I have 800DVX, that had to be replaced twice (twice DOA) and their portable 300pdvx (also 2 replacements, both times weird power defect when it would simply shut off as soon as I switch to the battery mode).
So, QC is really an issue but it is for most of the chinese products that hit american market.
I hope yours will serve you for a long time, because once RJ players work, they are amazing.
