A friend has a P111 x 1G CPU, a Pioneer 106D and is backing up all his DVD's, without any problems. He uses 4x regardless of the speed of the media he has. At 4x, the max. burn time is 15 minutes .... good decision on his part, as to date, he has zero freezes, pixalation, or coasters using DVD SHRINK to decrypt, encode, re-author and shrink into a single ISO file on a drive formatted NTFS. He then then burns with DVD Decrypter. You have to decide whether or not the couple of minutes saved by burning at x8 is really worth the aggrevation.
