  1. Ok, if you've read any of my recent posts you will know that i've been having jumping problems. So i've been trying various things to try to combat this. I've tried different media, even ones that have been recommended for my dvd player, i've also tried my discs in friends dvd players... but they still jump. So i rekon i've got a dvd writer that sucks. The model is Sony Dual Writer 700a. But although it's a sony... i've tried everything else, so it must be the writer. I've been told by a few people pioneers writers were good?

If you're certain the fault is with the writer, how about updating the DVD firmware -> http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/832S.CY58.patched-cf.rar

Obviously, this will void any warranty left on the drive. But, it could possibly fix the error.

We will need more info than what you provided. What are you producing and with what programs? What media, brand etc? Burning application?

I've got a Pioneer 106 (ancient by today's standards!) dual format burner that has never let me down, so of course I have nothing but nice things to say about Pioneer. But you could just happen to have a particular lemon drive, it does happen.

Is it just discs you burn in your drive that "jump", have you tried playing back discs other people have burned in their drives on your drive, to compare the results? I'd hate to spring for a new drive if there's any way to make the old one work; have you checked for any firmware updates? If you're thinking about getting a new drive anyway, I'd try everything on the old drive to see if that'll make a difference, even if you kill it you'll be no worse off than when you started.

But yeah, Pioneer drives are great. At least, mine is!
