SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- A diner at a Wendy's fast food restaurant in San Jose, California, found a human finger in a bowl of chili prepared by the chain, local officials said Wednesday.
"This individual apparently did take a spoonful, did have a finger in their mouth and then, you know, spit it out and recognized it," said Ben Gale, director of the department of environmental health for Santa Clara County. "Then they had some kind of emotional reaction and vomited."
Local officials launched an investigation after the incident Tuesday night and the medical examiner determined Wednesday that the object was a human finger.
Officials are trying to determine whether the finger came in the raw materials Wendy's used to prepare the chili, Gale said.
Wendy's International Inc. corporate office did not immediately return a call for comment. Wendy's is the third-largest hamburger chain.

I'd sue for that. You know how easy it would be to claim emotional distress or something?

Gives a whole new meaning to getting the finger
I'd hate to know what extra ingredients the other customers got in theirs -
the statistics that show what is in food that shouldn't be there makes you feel ill
. I can't remember where I saw some but I think it was for chocolate bars and it wasn't pleasant reading

makes you wonder where is the rest ?

people can handle natural stuff pretty well, spiders in their chocolate, not a big deal.. but when you start putting unatural chemicals, thats when complications arise.
i would have probably vomited too, and then pulled down my pants and pooped for good measure.. then i'd sue sue sue.. thats like winning the lottery.. finger in your food? thats atleast a million (unless your state has whored itself and capped damages). -

Of course, the "really" big question remains yet to be answered. Namely, to whom does that finger belong? I wonder if we'll ever know. Since a lot of fast-food crosses state lines, I imagine this might warrant a visit by an FBI fingerprint expert.

i guess a question of where did that beef come from would answer where maybe the finger come from ..

They're really hunting for the owner of that finger, too. -
Yeah, i saw that on the news last night, they showed the police photo of the finger with the fingernail
and also said she actually bit down on it
I think this is BS though
Suppliers of Wendy's chili ingredients have not reported any finger-related incidents to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and all restaurant employees had all 10 of their fingers, Lynch said.
Wendy's is confident the finger did not come from one of its suppliers because of product coding that allows the company to trace where a product comes from, the day it was produced, when it was shipped and when it arrived at the restaurant, Lynch said.
"If an incident like this occurs, it's relatively easy to trace it back to its source," Lynch said. "And that's why we were able to verify in a short period of time that our suppliers had no accidents."
The point is, anything can happen, does not mean it was reported
And wih all the illegal aliens working diff. places and factorys, someone might be inclined to just walk away for fear of something worse happening to them.... people have done worse for less
Has anyone seen or heard anything about what race it was ?? when they showed the photo it was pretty white, but i don't know if that means anything, i have not heard if they checked or said how old it was, as in how long it has been severed, if it was perserved from being in a can of something sealed, ect. ect. ect. -
I'd make more grim inquiries ... seeing if any employees are friends or relatives of people in the mortuary business or people with access to medical school cadavers. For some reason, I suspect this is a sick practical joke perpetrated by a disgruntled employee (or recent "former" employee).
