  1. I have a sony trv 250. I was shooting a sypmonic band from a balcony. i had the camera all the way zoomed out so i could get the whole band. when i watched it when i got home, the lighting was over powering some of the band. the reflections on the instruments seemed to make everyone seem blurry.

    any ideas? settings? filters? lens'?

Sony camcorders have various different programmed exposure settings. Most of the modern ones (including yours I would assume) have a spotlight setting that underexposes the majority of the scene so that anything highlighted is exposed correctly. Try using that setting next time. I shoot a lot of video under stage lighting and it is difficult to get the exposure correct. I use three camcorders that all have manual override on the exposure and I use that to get it right. The spotlight setting on one of mine is as good as you'll get without full manual control.
