  1. i ask people on aonther forum whats their favorite firmware (casue there were the ones that told me this dvd burner OWNEZ) but no one has said XX.XX version. i assume hacked firmware is better than regual firmware...if so whats the best hacked/regular firmware. is talking about hacked firmware ok?

    I dont own a NEC, so cant comment on the best firmware, but can provide some info.

    Its ok to talk about hacked firmware, its your drive so you can modify it in any way you please.

    The advantages a hacked firmware offers over official firmwares is that it unlocks the rip speed of the drive (some manufacturers implement a 2X max rip on their dvd writers). Also, it makes the drive Region Free.

    The disadvantage is that using a hacked firmware can invalidate the warranty of the drive unless you find some way of reverting back to the official firmware.

  6. I use the current Liggy & Dee firmware - 1.UC as of this moment:
    Liggy & Dee ND-3520 Modified Firmware V1.UC

    This provides Bitsetting, Riplock, PI/PIF Scanning as well as speed and quality enhancements for a wide range of media. I highly recommend it.
