are discount magazine subscription sites legit?

i was wondering if anyone here has used websites like http://www.magsdirect.com because they have a year subscription for maximunPC for only $12 when the tearout add in the actual magazine says a year is $29.95. i was just wondering if this is legit or if anyother site that you guys might use or have used is. thanks for your help.

I've used sites like that before, I don't think that particular one, but discount sites, I've never had any problems. I've also used e-bay to get them dirt cheap, got Popular Science 3 years for $10. Don't know if that stuff is still on e-bay or not, it's been a few years.

Publishers Clearinghouse is still online. Not sure about American Family Publishers, though. They still have their website registered through 2006 ... but I couldn't get it to open up.

the prices arent that good on the 2 magazines i compared.

fhm & sports illustrated.

fhm was offering 2 years for $17.97
magsdirect was offering 2 years for $18.00

si was offering a year for $45.56
magsdirect was offering a year for $88.95

not such a good deal, for me atleast.

Maximum PC is on e-bay 1 year for $3.99. I've bought mags from e-bay 3 times, no problems.

Just look around. Alot of magazines subscriptions can be had for free.

There was never any automatic renewal on anything I bought. They can't do that without a credit card number, which they don't have. I got 2 magazines for free for a year from buying other mags off e-bay, Maximum PC was one of them.

I've gotten free subscriptions too I'm just suggesting to anyone who orders from an online site to make sure to read the small print....
