  1. What's up everybody.

    Does anyone know how can I use DVDRebuilder (with CCE encoder)
    to shrink a 15GB movie that I have to a DL 8.5GB.
    I recently bought the Pioneer DVR-108 and I want to try my first DL burn with this project.

    All suggestions are welcome!!!

    Use dvdshrink to reauthor the first disk and drag over the main titleset and then in reauthor mode browse to the second dvd(folder) and then drag over the the main titleset and then backup without compression and when finished use dvd rebuilder to encode backup.

  3. I've already authored the dvd
    it contains 5 movies and menu
    I wanted to put on DL(8.5) so that I can get better quality
    I tried DVDRebuilder but it shrinks it to the DVD-5 (4.3GB), quality its nasty.

    I want to shrink the project using DVDRebuilder to DVD-9
    I don't know if it's possible

    You can use dvdshrink and manually set it to dual layer size and shrink with best settings.

    dvd rebuilder is only for converting a dvd-9 (dual layer) disk to fit on a dvd-5 (single layer). it's not possible to use dvd rebuilder for what you're trying to accomplish because the video will be re-encoded which is why the quality is nasty. use dvd shrink as johnsO has posted.

    This is definitely possible, I have read about people doing it. I believe you have to go in and change the target size. I am not sure about the exact steps or the target size you would need to enter, I think it's in terms of clusters or bytes, or even how it applies to the very latest versions of DVD-RB.

    Could someone please shed some light on this, I too would like to use DVD-RB to compress lots of gigs to fit onto one DVD+R9. CCE would do a much better job than DVD Shrink would.

    If you go into your rebuilder.ini, after options But before CCE Options,you can dictate the target sectors. I use 2256400 for a DVD-5 as it gets closer to the full size of a disc than the default It may take some experimenting to get it just right.
    A sector is 2048 IIRC so if you take that times 4.1 you get 8.3968 GB's.
    When i use 2048 X 2256400 that equals 4.6211xxxx GB's with 4.7 being the max so it give you a little room so you don't go all the way to the end of the disc where amny errors occur.

    So in rebuilder.ini,it can look like this (just disregard some things will not be the same but this is an example):

    [Audio]
    Selected=1111
    [Options]
    CCETargetSectors=2256400 OR CCETargetSectors=4100000 for a DVD-9
    Mode=1
    OneClick=1
    ReduceOpt=0
    NoWarn=1
    AdditionalOutput=0
    LogFile=1
    QuEncHQ=1
    EncoderMinimized=1
    RemoveDTS=1
    Skin=Rockas Original
    HC_Quality=3
    HC_Matrix=1
    CCE=3
    SkinVersion=5
    DCPrec=3
    HalfD1=00000
    Convert_16_9=00000
    DisableInterlace=00000
    AVSFilter01=Undot().Deen()
    HC_OPV=1
    AudioDub=0
    Completed=2
    [Paths]

    QuEnc=C:\Program Files\DVD-RB\QuEnc\QuEnc.exe
    ReJig=C:\Program Files\DVD-RB\ReJig\ReJig.exe
    DECOMB=C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Decomb521.dll
    ProCoder=C:\Program Files\DVD-RB\EclPro\EclPro.exe
    MPEG2DEC=C:\Program Files\DVD-RB\dgdecode.dll
    Working=E:\AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS\
    Output=E:\AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS\
    CCENew=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\cctspt.exe
    Source=E:\
    [CCEOptions]
    VBR_bias=25
    Quality_prec=16
    eclPasses=8

    So something like

    CCETargetSectors=4100000 (2048 X 4.100000 = 8.3968 GB's)

    would probably be a place to start. Just do a one pass VBR at first to get the size right in case you have to adjust it.
