  2. You can import those wmv files to TMPGEnc.
When you open video part use the all files option to see your wmv file and then select it.
but it takes a verrry long time.
Suggestion: Never use Microsoft formats, they can't be converted or edited easily. They're not flexible at all.

  3. Is the file definitely in WMV format? You could try changing the file extension from WMV to ASF. These formats are actually the same and renaming it may allow the encoding/burning program to accept it.
You could also try ASFTools to convert ASF to AVI.
I don't use Windows Movie Maker but I understand it can also save in DV AVI format instead of WMV. You could try resaving it as a DV AVI file and use that as the source file for encoding your VCD.
I would also recommend TMPGEnc for encoding instead of EZCD the quality is much better.

  4. the file format is MSWMM...let me re word what ive been trying to do...i have the following programs smart ripper, dvd2avi, and TMPGE...i am useing windows ME, and i use easy cd creator platinum to burn vcd's...now what im wanting to accomplish is i want to add in deleted scenes to a movie, im gonna use the phantom menace as an example, 1st i use smart ripper to rip the dvd, then i open dvd2avi, then i use the TMPGE to encode into mpeg...then i repeat the process for the deleted scenes..the next step is i import my finished mpeg's and import those into windows movie maker.this is where i am editing in the deleted scenes..now when it saves the movie as it seems to want to keep in the WSWMM file type, should i go out and get a different movie editing program, or can i re encode the MSWMM into a mpeg useing the software that i have?

  6. Cozmickind, I can't help much with Windows Movie Maker, but the problem I have with your process is that you are performing multiple re-encodes of your movie (DVD2AVI>TMPGEnc>MovieMaker>TMPGEnc) and this can degrade the quality significantly.
I'm also still not clear on the MSWMM format. Was the actual file extension WMV or something else? Did you look into other export options in the program?
You could try another editing program that can edit and output directly in MPEG since you intend to output to VCD . Check into Womble MPEG2VCR, Ulead, or PowerVCR. I think then you could encode once from DVD2AVI in TMPGEnc, then do your edits in one of those programs and save without having to re-encode the whole movie. Then you could burn the VCD in Nero or EZCD.
