Lots of people swear by DVD Decrypter. I often use Nero because it allows me to burn two discs at the same time.

CopyToDVD from VSO is excellent. TMPG DVD Author has a burning engine built in and it also works great. Never had any bad burns with DVD Author.
Personally, I've never burned a good DVD from Nero but I'm sure it's just something that's unique to my system. -
DVD Decrypter when using Shrink, VSO CopytoDVD when working standalone.

Plextor all the way. NEC is a budget drive, but get the job done. See http://www.hardwareguys.com, go to "Our Picks", then "Optical Drives", then scroll down to "DVD Writers". HardwareGuys are the editors of the Oreilly PC hardware series.
sanlyn,
maybe you might want to read the OP's question and at
least some of the replies before posting next time.

Sorry, above. I got distracted for a while and when I got back to my PC I must have lost track. Apologies.
