  1. I have a Divx capable standalone player and am considering buying a DL-burner (Pioneer DVR-A08XL). I always use Divx / Xvid for my backups and TV-captures as I want to use as little shelfspace as possible.

Now my question is, would my standalone Divx-capable player (Philips 737) have a problem with a DL-disc filled with Divx/Xvid files? Has anyone tried this?
I think I'll buy a DL-burner anyways but still it would be a real downer if it wouldn't work

  2. I asked this question some months back, guess it was a little early to ask. My question still stands though, has any1 burned a DL-DVD with Divx/Xvid files on it and been able to play it on a standalone without problems, or hickups @ the layer change?

(I have a Pioneer DVR-09 now but haven't been able to find DL-media in stores here)

Well, my Philips DVP642 plays dual layer DVD+R discs fine with DVD content. I'm not really into DivX and where I live, dual layer discs are very expensive and very very hard to find right now. In fact, I haven't seen any at any local retailers for about 2 months now. Based on that, you can understand why I haven't tried DivX content on these discs, but since Philips players do play the discs OK, I would think it should work.
