One of the many restoration techniques I use is to add a fake widescreen when the video is damaged beyond repair, especially for tracking errors and unstable sync errors along the top of the screen.

Re-encoding is the obvious solution, for which I have done for years. But with all the video hardware that exists, surely there is a device to accomplish this as well.

    Any ideas?

  2. I have one !

Its called the GTH ACE and it may just be about to make all my other gear redundant. Im finding it tricky to my head around the controls - its a mixture of "press this" "while holding this" "then turn this" but who cares as long as it works.

Its the most fiddly feature of the unit but it can zoom both horizontally and vertically, though not at the same time of course.

    Colour corrections are excellent !!

TBC is full frame, but like all the other TBC's I have tried it has its own 'favourite' tapes.

Proper review and captures coming up. This thing is well worth the money.
I used to be indecisive but now I just cant make my mind up.

  3. BTW, If this guy built in a ltbc and some digital stabilising he would completely and utterly corner the entire analogue conversion market.

    Hands down, no contest !
