Greetings All
I am really hoping someone can help. I recently upgraded from my TDK 8x DVD writer to a Liteon 16x Dual Layer (1633). My TDK Burner burned quickly and the finished product could play flawlessly on every set top player in my house. I never had any trouble. I almost immediately had trouble with the Liteon. I use DVD Architect for authoring and it would not detect the drive. I got through that and after a slew of upgrades to firmware, the motherboard chipset, and the software itself I got the Liteon to succesfully burn. I went through all that and the finished DVDs skip or stop mid-play on most of the players in my house. I thought it might be the burner so I exchanged it for another Liteon 1633 and had to update my ASPI layer to get that to work. But alas - it did not solve the problem. I have heard really great stuff about the Liteon 1633 and I am surprised to be having trouble like this. So my first question is can anyone shed some light on why this is happening?
My second one is, if I decide to throw the blasted thing and go get something that works - what drive is known for compatibility? Memorex? Plextor? TDK does not make a DL drive that I have been able to find.
PS - I have tried many different media types and different writing speeds.
