All,
If you go out to the Mplayer home page, http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/index.html, you'll see that development of mplayer/mencoder/ffmpeg are being threatened by legal actions. How does this affect ffmpegX and future versions?
Thanks,

God knows. To be precise, it is not threatened by any legal actions presently, the point is that EU is willing to introduce laws allowing software to be patented in EU, which was not the case previously. This will not change anything in the short term but could affect development activity in the mid/long term. Of course this would not only affect ffmpeg but almost 99.9% of other shareware/freeware. Check http://www.answers.com/topic/software-patent for some information.
