    Looking to buy one or the other. From the specs, I don't seeing any difference between the 5005 and 5006. Anyone know if there is? 5006 is at Radio Shack for $180.

    The firmware for these recorders are hackable to remove Macrovision sensing which can sometimes be triggered by older video tape.

    In addition to the $180.00 sale price at Radio Shack for the 5006, they are now also including a $30 rebate.

    I just bought the 5006 at Radio Shack today. $180 and a $30 rebate. I spent a extra $26 and got a 2yr replacement policy.
