How do I uninstall the panasonic dvcodec?
I've tried to remove it through device manager and delete from system32 but it is not complete.
It's still in the registry and seemed to take over other codecs.
I would like to go back and use the original windowsXP codec.

    Thanks

I don't know about the Panasonics DV codec, but the Canopus DV codec shows up in "add/remove programs".

Thanks, but the panasonic doesn't, and this is why I have the problem.

  4. Go into Device Manager and right click on Sound and Video or Media or whatever it is and in the subcategory you have Video Codecs. Right click go into properties, go into another Properties and you have your list of codecs. Here you can remove. I like the Panasonic codec most of all though.

Thanks but I have done all that (see my first post). The problem is how to get rid of all the registry setting which still have it and/or what should be written there instead.

Filmerit is a great tool for diagnozing/fixing filter problems. See http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit_en.htm

I can't see how it would take over from the XP codec since it is a VFW codec, whereas the MS DV codec is a WDM one.

    Thanks Safesurfer,
By now (after backing) i've made some changes to the registry according to the Panasonic inf. file and it seems that the DVcodec is gone.
everything looks ok now. let's hope it'll stay like this.

  8. You could have just scanned your registry with JV16 PowerTools and removed the invalid entries.
