  1. i know there is a battle going on with hd-dvd and blue-ray for High Definitioin DVD's... but how much longer do you guys think? I have a 50" sony HD LCD TV. Dont get me wrong.. the HD broadcasts still amaze me.. but playing normal dvd's just isn't using the TV to it's fullest... and i have stopped buying DVD's just because i don't want to re-purchace the HD version of the dvd's.

How many years do you think i'm going to suffer?

Playinig a dvd meant for a normal TV kinda sucks on a HD tv.

  2. They're apparently supposed to roll the formats out by the end of the year, but I'm not holding my breath. There is no need for two formats, so until they figure out how to cooperate with each other they're not getting any of my money. Hell they're probably not gonna get my money anyway, its too soon to try to make everybody jump ship to a new medium again.

    - Same here. Remember those first audio cassettes in the late 60's, it was a big box...so where are they? Now, remember those videodiscs? Where are they? Remember those fools who had bought entire videocassette libraries before the event "DVD"? What do they do with their VHS tapes now? Anyway, I guess HD DVD files take a lot of room, and this is not only a problem for the video industry. The PC industry will also have to think again how to fit those files on new and bigger HDs.

  4. Well if you plan on getting a PS3, it will be Blu-Ray. HD-DVD I heard will have regular DVD format as we know it today, and HD-DVD all you do is flip the disc over and its encode in HD-DVD.

Yea but at this point in time it's not like the technology is 100% new and different and considering the amount of HD TV's sold these past few years for the purpose of HD.. it almost makes sence to possibly wait.. i understand that eventually a new technology is going to replace it anyway. DAMN IT i just want HD DVD's sooner than later!!!
