I always use a shredder, but it makes straight cuts. Someday I'll
buy one that makes crosscuts. A little more secure!

    Agreed.

I always burn all my sensative private confidential documents (in a safe manner of course). You'll never recover burned documents.

For shreaded documents, all you need is some tape, time and patience.

I use a crosscut shredder, also known as a confetti shredder, and I shred almost everything. Anything with an address, anything with financial information, program code for projects I'm working on, almost everything.
And then I use the bags of confetti as firestarters in my fire pit in the back yard.

A few years ago my sister in law bought a little shredder, unwrapped it, plugged it in, looked around for something to test it with, decided to start small, fed it the receipt and it broke half way thru!

She took it back with the receipt still stuck in the unit and after much laughter at the store got a replacement and a new receipt.

I also witnessed a freak accident where a new credit card still tucked into the slots on the letter that they come on, got brushed off of the new secretarys desk, did a flip and went straight into the shredder slot. The boss was pissed and the new girl was in tears, but I was laughing my ass off!
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?
