  1. Hey when using dvd shrink which audio can i delete there is the 5.1 audio and there is the 2.1 audio. Is the first line of audio the main audio? for instance my Van helsing dvd list the audio in this order
    1 ac3 5.1 english
    2 ac3 2.1 spanish
    3 ac3 2.1 french
    4 ac3 2.1 english
    5 ac3 2.1 english
i dont have 5.1 speakers so can i delete the 5.1 english and not have to choose the 2.1 in the menu

I made that mistake once. Delete the 5.1 audio and leave the 2.1 audio and all you'll get is the directors commentary! Delete everything EXCEPT the 5.1 audio and you'll be OK. Apart from anything else, you may not have 5.1 speakers now but you may get some in the future.

The 5.1 is always the main audio, any others are extras. You can run a preview in Shrink to confirm it. The 5,1 audio track is used by your player as the main one, the player will merge the different bits if you have told your player you only have two speakers.

If there is a 5.1 stream it will be the first listed and your DVD player will default to it. You should play the DVD in PowerDVD player on your computer. The 2.0 streams will sometimes have a normal soundtrack not direcrtor's comments. Also the disk language menu should tell you what each audio stream is. If there is a 2.0 soundtrack you should use it and not the 5.1 track. On a 2 hour movie like Van Helsing the 5.1 stream will be 400MB's,but the 2.0 stream will be 180MB's. That puts 220MB'd into the all important video stream.

Run a preview of whatever movie you're shrinking, and right-click the mouse anywhere in the preview window while its playing

This will pop up a smaller window where you can choose what audio to play in the preview window, so you can hear what audio tracks is for what

I've made that mistake in the past and removed the wrong audio track, before I found out how to preview audio tracks via DVD Shrink
