Is there any way that the Toshiba D-VR3 can play back video CD's. I would like to buy the unit but concerned about that shortcoming.

    Thank You

    Hello,

    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=Toshiba+D-VR3&Search=Search&country=&o...y=Name&hits=25

According to the user feedback it does support vcd.

The other possible way around it would be to author it as a dvd. You could either leave the video as vcd and upsample the audio to 48khz or reencode both the video and audio to dvd.
