I recently ordered a 50 pack of printable riteks from www.blankmedia.ca
and they were garbage. I've been using printable riteks on my LG burner for a long time with no problems.

I got these and I noticed they look almost identical to the ones I usually use but in the middle where they have the Ridatta label had a translucent colour and it wasn't totally transparent like the ones I regularly use.

The Discs were CRAP with the Ridatta Ritek name. I checked the discs in DVDIdentifier and compared them to the ones I usually use before I started to use them and they showed the same name "Ritek Go4"

This was my first purchase from www.blankmedia.ca I chose to try them out because sold it cheaper than my regular source

I was wandering if any one else purchased media from www.blankmedia.ca or purchased printable ritek go4's from them.

Also is the fact that the centre of the ritek's are tranlucent other than transparent make a difference Is it different media

If anyone has any info please let me know

  2. I can tell you that CRAP with the Ridatta Ritek name is common. Unfortunately, they have too many bad batches. I too got stuck with this crap ordered from supermediastore a while back. Never again. The store - yes, Ritek - absolutely not.

I have bought TY media from them before and it's always been very good. As far as fake Ritek's...that's kinda like counterfeiting $1 bills instead of $100's. IMO, Ritek is garbage. They have even given me a higher percentage of coasters than CMC.

Ridata/Ritek is not a media for every burner. I've burned ~1500 /G04 and G05/ without any problems so far.

    Good luck!

    Good luck!
I have successfully burned a few also.
Then I ran them through KProbe and the results were awful....

  6. I've ordered twice from blankmedia.ca, but I only order Taiyo Yudens. I can get Ritek/Ridata very cheap locally. I have been using Ritek/Ridata white printables lately and they seem ok. I use the Taiyo Yudens for home videos and master copies. The cheaper Ritek/Ridata I reserve for copies and give aways to friends/family.

Have you contacted blankmedia.ca? They seem very reputable. I'm sure they could help you.

EDIT: I just noticed you're in Toronto. There are several places that sell Ritek/Ridata media for a good price in the Toronto area.

    It's all been said.

    Ridata batches are not alike.
I've burned G04 and G05 with great success... Until
    I received a bad spindle.

I have no problem with blankmedia.ca.
Good service, low price and fast delivery.

    BCEASE,

If you live in Toronto, check out PC shops on Spadina and College. You can get Riteks there easily while saving shipping charges.

I have a local source but he charges me $0.99 a disc

blankmedia.ca is cheaper but these discs were bad, none worked good. Like I said before this batch looked different than what I usually get, the middle was translucent colour and the ones I usually use have a transparent middle. The price is good but I am too afraid to try them again.

I live in Mississauga do you guys know where I can get a better price

  10. I get mine at Grey-Tech computers, but they are in Markham ($27.95 for 50 inkjet printable). For Mississauga area, you can try factorydirect.ca. They have one of their stores in Mississauga, but be careful, they sell really cheap unbranded media as well. I wouldn't touch their really cheap stuff. They have Ritek/Ridata inkjet printable at $31.99 for 50.

If you are willing to pay 0.99 a disc, I recommedn ordering the Taiyo Yudens from blankmedia.ca.

    Hope this helps you.

What...that's cool man. I live in Sauga too. The Factory Direct that "Pacific Mall" Pete mentions is on Dundas -- quite close to my house actually.

I've been using Riteks in my old LG4040B off and on for years without any problems.
The only bad ones (2 at the most) were white topped...though not necessarily "printable". I have NEVER had a bad naked/shiny top Ritek disc ever.

Ritek doesn't need to be fake to be crap. In fact, I still think Ritek was lying, a fluffy cover story to hide the fact that their media all fell to mostly crap quality in the past 15-16 months.

  14. Blank Media is a good place. Riteks quality can be mixed. They make both tranparent and translucent hubs, so don't worry. You got real Riteks. They just happen to be bad. Try burning them at 2X. usually helps with bad media. i have lost my faith in Ritek latley. The G04 were good and some are still pretty good, but the G05 are pretty bad.

And by good or bad, I don't mean unsuccessful burns. I mean good scans using DVDinfo and other programs. I have burned over 1000 disc and maybe 2 or 3 failed to burn. The other "failures" or "crappy disc" are because they scanned poorly after the burn. TY is the best though.
