I picked up this unit last night. So far so good, although I can't call myself an expert in DVD recorders.

Has a stereo tuner, which I understand some lower end untis do not have. Tried burning to -rw and +rw and both worked no problem. the -rw came with the unit and was labelled as LG 2X.

I tried some Verbatem 4X +RW and they worked as well. Finalized the disk and they worked in my computer drive.

Didn't spend a whole lot of time with the manual, but I was able to do one-touch recording, timer recording and transferred some test footage from some S-VHS tapes I have (the real reason for me buying it). 4 hour mode on the S-VHS tapes looked good to me.

It can record in 1hr, 2hr, 4hr and 6hr mode.

It has dv in and enough connections for my simple setup.

Paid $299 at Futureshop. Happy so far.
