  1. Just wondering if anyone knows of any software application that could trick windows into having two desktops side by side so that you could have video playback/web page on one desktop and the video editing software on the other or something like that.

a lot of video cards these days allow for dual monitors ... I wonder whether this might be worth looking into ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

well its not really a trick but u have to buy a graphic card that allow a dual monitor input.

depending on ur editing software, u should make sure it works with it before.

suggestions: Matrox Millenium G550 32 mb
u can go as high as u want on MB with matrox if u got the cash for it.

try also Geforce 5200FX...should be ok, except u should check compatibility

  4. I want to do this on one pc-two desktops-side by side. I know you can do this with powertoys virtual desktop but it only does 4 screens and you have to switch between each one. I want something like that if it exists.

I thought Win2000 and above did this natively if you add a PCI video card.

  6. Did I mention I want to do this on one monitor? Kind of like split screen-two desktops, one screen, one computer, one operating system. I once came across a website that offered software that could do this, but I haven't had any luck lately going back to it to get the software.
