I've burned m2v files tons of times but this one is giving me a lot of problems...
I don't know if this is within the rules but I want to explain why I'm doing this -
HBO's Carnivale series is one of my fav new TV shows. I went out and spent US$70 on the Season One DVDs and then I find out that the rental only discs have two behind the scenes features you *cannot get on the home discs* this annoyed me as the season only had 12 eps and that could so have been put on 3 discs, not 6, thus cutting the price in half at least!
Anyway I want to make it very clear I did purchase the DVD set. I am not trying to copy the whole season, just these behind the scenes features. That is all.
I used DVD Shrink 3.2 to try and pull them from the DVD. It worked, but then TMPGEnc Plus and DVD Author will not burn the files.
So I tried to rip the DVD directly with DVD Decrypter to see if anything was wrong with the disc and it has RCE protection. So I thought DVD Decrypter would take out the RCE protection stuff but it doesn't.
Is there any program that will help me? I could just rip and burn them to on DVD but it's a waste of space. I have a comp DVD I'm working on and want to put these files on that... any help would be great!

DVD Decrypter will remove RCE protection, and is, for my money, a much better ripper. It is also much more up-to-date than Shrink when it comes to the new protection schemes being used.
Having said that, RCE would only affect playback of the whole disk, not ripped segments. You could also try vobblanker, but I suspect you are doing something wrong somewhere. I have ripped many RCE protected disks without issue.
Try ripping the whole disk to your HDD with DVD Decrypter (if it is RCE protected, select your local region when Decrypter asks), then load it into Shrink and reauthor to get just the bits you want.Read my blog here.

I ripped using DVD Decrypter as suggested and I wil rip the files with DVD Shrink from there.
I'll let you know how it turns out! Thanks mucho for the help. -
Okay I did the rip of the smaller feature.
TMPGEnc DVD Author is saying it "Could Not Intialize Decoder"
And TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 is telling me that the "Can not open or is unsupported"
I can only think this has to do with the RCE stuff right? -
Well I figured out what to do -
I could rip audio just not video.. so I ripped the audio and used the VOB file DVD Shrink made as the video part. It worked.
Rock!
