  7. I managed my major OC by taking the engine out of my car and rigging the drive shaft to my HDD platters. I've never seen them spin so fast. I did lose one platter though since it wasn't attached well. My father has one hell of a headache with that thing lodged in his noggin. But no big loss since the drive has infinite space anyway right?

I didn't hear this story first-hand but I believe it to be credible. This was in the early days of space flight. Weight was critical. A NASA engineer responsible for tallying the weight in the command capsule allocated weight for the computer code and data based on the weight of the printout of these. I guessed he figured that when these were loaded that 1's & 0's weighed a lot more that a bunch of 0's.

The above idea would be a waste of money, to get a faster, bigger hard disk you need patience, only that, patience, and this is why:

In approximately 10 years hard disk will have an unlimited capacity, so all those 100Terabytes hard disks that people have been using ( 5 years in the future) will be tossed, most of them by geeks and slashdot readers, once that starts to happen, you just need to scavenge for the faster, bigger you can find.

    A Piece of cake.
