    Greetings!

I'm trying to burn my first DVD and I'm not having a very good success rate. The DVD plays fine on my computer but put that sucker in a stand alone DVD player and it sits there and the player finally times out with 'unknown disc.'

All my hardware is in my profile. Using DVD Indetifier I get this from my DVD+RW disc:

I'm using WinDVD Creator 2 .. which may or may not be the best. If there's a better way using freeware and doing it long hand then I'm game!

I'd just like to know what I'm doing wrong!

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks!

  2. Your standalone may not play dvd-rw's. Try a dvd-r

  3. You can bitset your DVD+RW discs to DVD-ROM, which tricks your player into thinking the disc is a pressed/store bought disc. You can bitset with Nero CD-DVD Speed, DVD Decrypter, DVDInfo, etc. It may very well be the player's fault as Nelson suggests, and bitsetting may resolve that.

Otherwise it could be an issue with the disc not being DVD Video spec. I'm not familiar with WinDVD Creator, but I'm assuming it's burning the disc as well as creating it. There's a chance it is to blame if it's not the player. If the bitsetting doesn't help, maybe try backing up one of your store bought discs with DVD Shrink and burning the ISO with DVD Decrypter - this combination is almost CERTAIN to create a compliant DVD VIDEO disc.

    Steve ..

Ok .. using DVD Decrypter. I found the book type. Obviously I choose BenQ since I have a BenQ DVD drive. Once I click change is that all I have to do? Or do I need to re-burn the DVD from and image file?

Sorry for being so newbie to this! Only way to learn is to fart around with it!

    Please let me know!

    Thanks again!!
