ok here it goes. i went to a lan party 2 days ago and this kid had a sweet little lcd screen on the side of his case, doubling as a 2nd monitor, to watch lil movies and such, with a lcd screen he got from a portable ps1 screen. i didnt ask him in detail how he did it tho, so i was wondering how i would.

my vid card has a vga, svideo, and a d-somthing hookup.

im guessing i would mod the lcd screen into the front of my case, where the cd slots go and connect the screen to svideo (not sure if ps1 has that) and drag the power cord out of the back and connect it to a plug.

this is a bit of a lousy idea and was wondering if anyone knew of any lcd screens that were ment for the job i want to do that are under or around 100$. (or any other useful info)

    thanks a lot!

Most LCD displays for cars and such use an RCA video interface, so if your video card has S-video or TV out like that you could snake it back into your case and connect it to the LCD input. Power is probably going to have to be rigged by hand though. I would make your own Molex connector instead of whatever power plug the LCD has. Likely the LCD for a car is going to be set up to run on 12VDC.

Interesting mod, I just wouldn't want to mess with something like that. Routing the cable back inside the case just doesn't seem very clean to me.

There's a number of instruction pages for that particular mod. It requires a Sony PS1? 5" LCD screen that has apparently been discounted to $10 at "Toys R Us"

    Lookie Here for Instructions

or check out this site It's given me tons of ideas for cheap home-made mods. They even have a fold-away LCD screen that fits into a 5 1/4" drive bay.
