  1. Hi all!

I live in Italy and need to send DVDs with home-made videos to my family in Brazil.
Both Italy and Brazil share the PAL system, but with different region codes.
I sent two DVDs but their stand-alone DVD player refused to play them, saying there was a region lock. I looked for a hack to "free" their player, but it's a Sony DVP535 and no hack seems to be available nor working: someone there in Brazil proposed to open the player and substitute a chip, invalidating the guarantee. NO!!!
Now I'm just willing to burn region-free DVDs (if possible), but don't know how to do it.
I've read about someone doing the same thing among Europe and U.S.:
does the stand-alone player have to be region-freed or is there a burning solution to this?

    Thanks for any reply!

What software do you use to create the DVDs ? Few authoring applications support region codes outside the high-end packages. If yours is setting a region, it must be able to create a region-free disk as well. Tell us what you use and we might be able to help you better.

  4. DVD Decrypter worked great! Thanks!
Anyway I'm using "Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD", as it was bundled with my Samsung burner. I'm generally satisfied with it.

I've tried to backup a DVD, and it all ran well with dvd decrypter & DVD Shrink, until the burning phase: it started automatically at 8x speed. It is too fast (I generally use lower speeds) and failed: how can I slow it down?

    Bye!
