  1. Hey all,
    i have this question.
What route would you take in order to edit VOB files?
I know there is WOmble Video Wizzard, and mpeg VCR but those are for basic editing.
Lets say u want to add up FX.
So what would the route be?
    1. Copy VOBs onto hard drive
    2. Basic editing in Womble and export as what? ....> mpg?
    3. Throw into Premiere or Vegas etc...
I know Premiere sux on handling mpegs...

So what route would u take in order to work on a fully VOBBed project with effects?

VOBs aren't (supposed to be) edited. They are part of a Video DVD structure.
So what route would u take in order to work on a fully VOBBed project with effects?
I'd start with uncompressed AVI as source, make all my edits in this format, and when I'm finished, encode to mpeg, last author as DVD.

  3. Thank U mats.hogberg, for yer reply,
but lets say u do need to take footage off a DVD and re-edit it.

I know that uncpmressed AVIs are the best, but what do u do when AVis are not available?

Provide u have to work from VOBs what do you do?

    cheers

  4. In your situation, I would probably re-encode the DVD to and avi format. One with little or no compression would be best, such as Huffy or maybe DV if the source is interlaced, mjpeg is another option. Do all your editing with that, then re-encode to DVD compliant mpeg when editing is complete.

Wouldn't that create a huge AVI file?

  7. I would either frameserve, as mentioned above, or rip the .vobs with ReJig, then use Vegas or somesuch to do the editing.
