The world of video editing is not easy by any scale of imagination. For starters, I suggest you read some of the excellent guides under "How To" section on this forum. Lot of people have spent their time and energy to compile thise guides. Once you get a little hang of things then you can venture beyond.
Your comp should be the best you could afford. Very generally speaking - P4, 1Gb RAM, min 100gb SATA disk if possible 2, WinXP SP2, high speed graphics card, good capture card and above all LOTS & LOTS of PATIENCE.All other piece of h/w is of no use if you dont have this

Thank you very much
I only have 256MB ram
i need a new computer or more ram and better video card -
IMO, the video (out) card is totally irrelevant for video creation/editing. In fact, only time it makes any real difference, is when playing games, so if you want to save some buck, here is where you can save. Video editing is all about processor and I/O speed.

I suggest not going for a "brand" computer - better find a reliable company in your area that build their own computers. Get the fastest CPU you can afford (this ought to be the second fastest CPU on the market today), get the fastest mother board there is that takes full advantage of your CPU and get memory that has specs accordingly.
Then, At least 2 HDD (better 2 smaller than one big), a DVD writer and a DVD reader. Average nVidia gfx card (if youy're not into gaming) + Hauppage PVR250/350 for TV captures) or ATI AIW for both.
And while you're at it, choose a cabinet with all connectors on the front! Get a good processor cooling, and put fans in the cabinet (the supplier ought to be able to guide you to a quiet, well cooled enclosure).
