when i capture from my AIW's built-in tuner, i get about 1 or 2 dropped frames per 30 minute period
but when i capture from my JVC S-VHS via the AIW's S-Video input, i get about 25 to 30 dropped frames for only a 20 minute period

i am using the EXACT same settings in each instance

what the hell is the deal here?
I have used all the fantastic guides available at www.lordsmurf.com to help in adjusting my settings (I can't use his guide that outlines capturing with MMC because I get no audio that way...) and until now, have had nothing but great results.

I am using VirtualDub to capture, my PC specs can be found by clicking my name.

Any assistance you guys can offer to help me fix this issue would be greatly appreciated?

Sounds like you have a hardware issue, slow write access to the harddrive. What format are you capturing in? AVI?

I never drop a single frame, not unless the source is just pure garbage. Of course, I have a full TBC too, after the JVC.

    Use the dropped frames guide.

capturing .avi, YUY2, no compression codec used
if it was a HD write access issue, it would happen all the time tho, not just when i use the S-Video input
