  1. Hi,

I have been using an external Lacie Dual Layer DVD burner (firewire) for a while with single layer disks.

I tried using Traxdata DL DVDs but the drive would not recognize them. I read on this site that a firmware upgrade is available for the NEC2510A (which this drive is) that would enable use of these disks. However upgrading the firmware of the Lacie is probably not a practical idea.

Lacie reccomend Verbatim DL disks but these are still expensive. Does anyone know what other DL DVDs are compatible with this drive?

Memorex disks are cheap but I don't want to risk wasting more money.

    Cheers.

the three DL media you mentioned are pretty much the only ones available. RICOH DL is supposedly available in Japan, but not many writers can use it (at least from what little I have heard.)

Upgrading firmware might help if any firmware contain new write strategies for the Traxdata (Ritek) DL media. Just be sure you use the correct firmware for your drive.

I suggest you check you the cdfreak forums.

Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think.
