    When encoding DVD to XviD using AutoGK i noticed,

    A: The time taking to encode taking 3 times longer.
    B: The quality wasn't as i'd expected it to be was less clear than i thought a 1:29 movie at 700 MB would be.

    Comparing my other rips to that with the same tools used, they are much clearer than my latest rip.

    This was 4:3 all my other rips have been 16:9.

    How come this rip was not as clear as my other rips??

    4:3 uses 50% more bits/pixel than 16:9 ergo to get equivalent quality you should rip to either 1000mb or better still 1399.95mb. Alsp examine the source, is it blurry grainy black & white?? try also using divx, might be smoother, less detailed ...

    What RabidDog says-- also set the size to 1406mb which is about 1.37GB. It takes longer, but the quality is way better than 700MB.
