an episode in one side and another episode on other how to?

hi i have been scrolling through every page here, i have the ewoks dvd and my kids play the heck out of it, but i have to flip sides for them to watch it, how can i put both sides into one? someone said in a thread this:

rip one side and save, File 1
rip and save side two, File 2

open both files into Shrink, with automatic or custom ratio, compress to file size to fit single dvd, and re-rip the two files to File 3 which should be your final dvd file

but i tried this and cant figure it out, can someone explain better? PLEASE???? thank you
