  1. Hope someone can help me with this issue.

I have a Sanyo DVDR-4000 set-top DVD Recorder. I was saving to a DVD from a DirecTivo the other night. I had about 4 hours recorded on the DVD-R with about 1 1/2 hours left on the DVD. About 5 minutes into recording on the remaining 1 1/2 hours, there was some sort of error, and after sitting there for about 3 to 4 minutes, it came up with 0 hours remaining, but still only about 4 hours used. So, since there was this issue, I tried to go ahead and finalize the disc so it could be used in a plain DVD player, but, I got the error message CANNOT FINALIZE.

So, now, I am stuck. I cannot give this DVD to the person I was recording stuff for because they don't have a DVD Recorder. This disc will not even read in my PC DVD-RW drive, but, it will read in the set-top DVD Recorder. Any ideas on how to get this material transferred off of here without trashing the qulaity? Thanks!

What was the program and why don't you just do another recording, the same happens to me when I get a coaster that's why I never erase anything off my panny E-80H's hard drive until I got all I need and finalize the dvd then I erase it.

  3. Yes, this is one place where I was not very smart.

I ****stupidly******ignored******* the "little voice in my head" that suggested I not delete the showings until I was sucessful in creating the DVD. A couple of the items are still on the HD of the Tivo, and a couple of them are not. I had recorded some showings of Air Emergency and Seconds From Disaster that profiled Airline Crash Investigations. This guy is a general aviation pilot who no longer flies, but, is interested in these types of documentaries as I am. Maybe the ones that I already deleted will be aired again sometime.

I have learned my lesson though, I will not do this again!

  4. On my E80H, I can play unfinalized discs on the player side, record on the hard drive and make another copy.
