Hello people,
I'm here to ask for your help. I have two DVD Players, a SONY
DVP-NS325 and a Panasonic RV-60, which I use to play my movies, home videos, mp3's, etc.
The SONY DVP-NS325 plays all DVD formats, except DVD-RAM, which I don't really want or need. I'm only using high quality (as I understand) japanese made MAXELL DVD-R 4.7 GB media (code: MXL RG02), to burn my videos and to backup my DVD movie collection.
Sometimes a movie or home made video, burned into those DVDs will skip from the begining to the end, if played on the SONY DVP-NS325, which is the multiformat player.
When this happened the first time, my dad put the affected DVD on the Panasonic RV-60 DVD player (which is supposed to play only original DVD's and Music CD's), and guess what, it played the DVD just fine, without skipping a single time.

I still don't get it, but I've been reading that this Panasonic RV-60 player can play DVD-R discs sometimes, and may not play them other times.
I would like to know what can you tell me about this strange "X-FILES" like phenomena, but this is not the main question.
THE QUESTION OF THE MILLION $$$
Can any one here recomend me a good brand DVD player, which can play all the DVD formats and for once (I know I'm asking too much) in my life not skip ?
That's what I need to know, because I want to replace those two players for single one which can play everything.
Thanks in advance,

I bought the pioneer DV-260 from walmart ($70) about one year ago and I play Maxell DVD+R and DVD-Rs and never had a problem, I haven't tried any other formats. I like this player much better than the panasonic that I had before. A friend of mine bought the Pioneer DV-270 replacement model and had to bring it back because it only supported one kind of surround sound output and his receiver had the other if this is an issue for you. I don't remember which one it supported.
My older model supports both coaxial audio or optical audio surround sound.
The DVD player section of this website has reviews and shows what formats they will play. I found it very helpful in selecting my player. -
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I will try to locate that model here. Pioneer is a great brand, I'm also considering to buy one of them. My Home Teather is also a Pioneer, the THX Certified one, (can't remember model now) but it sounds great.
Well, thanks again for your post, It's being of great help !

Hello all,
Thanks for your recomendations, I've found the Pioneer DV-270 and DV-275-S (Same Model) here in Panama.
The Pioneer DV-575A and Panasonic S75 have not yet arrived. For now I will buy the Pioneer DV-270, and when any one of the others arrive I'll buy it also. It's wise to have at least two DVD players isn't ?
The AV Reciver I have in my Home Teather setup, is a Pioneer VSX-D906S THX Certified.
Thanks for the advice, it's being of grea help!
