Hi gang, anyone out there running the 1GHz Celeron on Abit's BE6-II first version (not version 2)? Abit's sight only advertises BE6-II to 800MHz, yet they advertise BE6-II version 2 up to 1 GHz. I thought the main difference between the first BE6-II and version 2 was the just the ATA 100/RAID. Abit's FAQ doesn't touch on it much except for something about 1.2 GHz Celeron conflicts. I'm replacing a 533Mhz Celeron, so I want to go as high as possible providing that it is stable operation.
Any thoughts, comments, etc.?? Thanks for da help!

The Rev2 board had some changes to it's layout and a compleatly redesigned BIOS.
Unless you can find a hacked BIOS file that will give you more multiplier options for the CPU, you woun't be able to use that chip @ 1GHz -
Multiplier options don't mean anything as a celeron ignores it anyway. Now the question is will the mobo recognize what TYPE cpu it is? But it may not have to. As long as it posts and boots you should be good to go. back in the k6-2 days I had a 350 that an old mobo recognized as a 486-100!!! lol....but it ran fine and at k6-2 speeds.

Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned in my first post that I already checked and I can manually set the BIOS on this board for a 1GHZ cpu (100 MHz FSB, X10 multiplier, etc.). I have the latest BIOS revision. I haven't messed with a lot of boards, so I wanted to get people's opinions and didn't want to assume that it would work just because I can set it (and I don't wnat to spend the $$ if it's not going to work!!).
Thanks for any comments.
