  1. What is the cut-off point for the program switching between full-d1 and half-D1? I personally would suggest somewhere around 3500kbps.

Also I did my first test of an AVI encode using RC2 with 2-pass encoding, the results were far better than the previous version, only one slight niggle tho, my Dvd player has the ability to display the bit-rate of the video in real-time, I noticed that on dark scenes the bitrate would drop quite low (under 1500kbps, avge for movie was 4500kbps), this may present a problem when encoding a film that is quite dark any way, however on the end credits the bitrate got as high as 8000kbps, probably due to the contrast of white on black. It may be helpful to give the option of manually selecting Half-D1 for some films as it could possibly give better results in dark scenes.

Encode time with 2-pass was roughly double the length of the movie, which may give a good rule of thumb or calculating how long an encode will take.

Keep up the good work tho crissyboy, the latest version it getting very close to being perfect

If you want to change the half-d1/full-d1 threashold then add the following string value:

    FULLD1BITRATEMIN

    to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Badgersoft\SVCD2DVD 2.0

and set the value of this new string to 3500 or whatever. If this registry entry is not present then the default is 3000.

Please let me know your thoughts. I agree an option to choose half-d1 would be good....
