  1. Okay...all I wanted to do was convert a demuxed file using ffmpegx on my G5. The thing was working fine..then suddenly...every time I would click on 'encode' it would spin, try to load mencoder and then right away mencoder would close, and it would do nothing.

Strangely, works fine on my powerbook g4. Annoying though, since obviously, I'd much rather use my g5.

I've uninstalled ffmpegx and the codecs and reinstalled several times. But the dang thing won't encode anything anymore. Will play the source file in 'preview' though. What's going on?

  2. Preview uses mplayer. It's a problem with mencoder.
As suggested only a few days ago, if you, as i did, have a problem with mencoder use ffmpegX 0.0.9k, and follow the instructions to install those binaries.

  3. Nope. Doesn't work. It still plays, but nothing happens when you click 'preview' and nothing happens when you click encode. Grrrrrrr!

  4. Strange issue. Try to redownload and reinstall. Try "Open terminal window" option in the tools tab.

  5. Here's what's happening in terminal.....any suggestions? Again....my Powerbook, no problem. The app works great...

  6. Everything seem fine in this output, which is your problem here?
(PS/ You're using a vastly obsolete version of the binaries, update at http://homepage.mac.com/major4/download.html).

  7. Actually, since I never used the terminal window, I never noticed that it was actually encoding. The thing is, the little graphical encoder bar doesn't pop up anymore. Why would that be?

And thanks for the heads up on the codecs...
