I recently recorded a music concert on CMT (Country Music Television) on my DVD recorder. I extracted the VRO file using ISOBuster, and was able to load it in TMPGEnc DVD Author to make a DVD.
Then I recorded a show (Pompeii) on the Discovery Channel, did the same thing, but TMPGEnc DVD Author complains "544 x 480 resolution can not be used for standard DVD"
TMPGEnc DVD Author says the first file is 720 x 480. Why is the second one 544 x 480? Same DVD recorder, same digital cable box.
Thanks for any answers! I'm sure I'm missing something simple....

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't thought about resolution with the different recording modes, and assumed only the bitrate varied. I need to learn some more about this stuff.
I'll do some tests in the different modes & see what I get.
Thanks again! -

If you're using ISOBUSTER because you can't see the contents of a DVD-VR disk in Windows Explorer (or TDA), and you've got a Pioneer drive in your PC, check out http://www.softarch.com/pioneer/readdvd.html (it's free for Pioneer drive owners - solved the problems I was having reading DVD-VR disks recorded on my 420H)
