Hello
I am trying to author a dvd with DVD Architect 1.0.
I can drag DIVX files onto the menu to burn them but it won't let me do the same with xvid files. It says stream attributes could not be determined. Is there something I need to do to make the program understand xvid files. I can play them on my computer. Would it be better to convert them to a different format?
Thanks for your help

Try loading them into vegas, and output then as DVD compliant mpeg streams. You can also change the audio to AC3 if you have the plugin. 2.0 setero AC3 will take up little space.
If the audio is vbr mp3 (as many are) you may find that vegas chokes on it. If this is the case, load the clip into virtualdubmod, select full processing in the audio menu, and output as uncompressed wav. Load this into vegas as your audio track and convert to AC3.Read my blog here.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I do have the codec loaded and even updated it thinking that was the problem. When I select the video it says "Stream attributes could not be determined" the audio came up as lame mp3.
I tried to convert it in vdub but it made a 86 gb file. Any other suggestions?
I don't mind converting it but I barely have enough disk space for such a project. Would virtualdubmod make much of a difference with size. BTW I used full processing for video and audio. I also tried the same xvid in some other authoring programs and they all denied it. -

Thanks for the help.
I have always used full processing
Is there a tutorial you can point me to on using codecs in vdub?
Thanks -
It's pretty much covered in any guide that uses virtualdub. All you need to do is choose your codec by going to video > Compression, and then each codec has its own configurations. AFAIK DV codecs don't require any modifications of settings.
If in doubt, Google it.
