  1. I've been reading this site as well as www.cask-of-amontillado.com and www.shspvr.com. Some says the same registry tweaks exist and some says no. Can someone with the PVR-150 card confirm if the exact registry settings exists?? Thanks.

    Yes it does, I own the CAP in question (PVR-150 with 45 button remote).
    Note: The tweaks require you to install the WinTV2000 software.

    I don't use the WinTV2000 software and use www.gbpvr.com instead, because I own two Media MVP 1000 devices which I use with the WinTV PVR-150. Now a lot of us are using two of these CAP to record more than on channel at a time an etc.

    If you goto GB-PVR forum were I am at mostly you'll learn more about your CAP card.

    I can tell you one thing the Sharpness tweak really works I have mine set to the max 7!

    Can the PVR-150 get around Macrovision? I hear that the PVR-250 can but I don't know about the 150.

  5. Thanks Tipstir.

    I've been reading the forums at gbpvr too. Looks like the software I'll be using once I get the card sometime this week. Managed to get in on CompUSA's $70 deal!

    Another Q - Does GBPVR fully support the PVR-150 yet or is it still partial? Members on that forum have been saying partial support with full support to be released soon or have I misread the postings?!

    Thanks again.

    CC has a better deal that Compusa I only paid $69, so if Circuit City is nearby go there first. They're having some sort of Owl madness sales after 5pm that seems to be crossing over.

    Forget their web site for deals you have to go into the store and have the sales guy scan the item, even if it's cheaper online they have to beat their own price and give you additonal 10% on top of that.

    Hauppauge! has a $20 buck rebate and CC has a $10 also total $30 bucks off the $99 price. The PVR-250 is only $129 and the Media MVP 1000 is now $99 it was $79.

    Now back to the item in hand, I have all the features working, my biggest problem was the new 45 button remote the comes with the PVR-150 wasn't working with GB-PVR, but it does now thanks to the author of GB-PVR help.

    PVR-150 is a good deal right now and works with Beyond TV also, but the GB-PVR is better features both on the PC and TV when use with Media MVP 1000.

    As for 150 registry tweaks exist there very few of the 250 registry tweaks will even work on the 150.

    Sharpness
    Download graphedit and insert one of the following WDM filters:
    Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture
    or
    Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Encoder

    Right click on either of these to get to their properties page. You now have access to everything. If you want the settings to persist after reboot (they are applied immediately, even if WinTV is running) paste the following into notepad and save as something like "HCWSaveSettings.reg" and then double click on it to add it to the registry:

    PVR 150/500

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\hcwPP2\DriverData]
    "HcwSaveEncoderSettings"=dword:00000001

    PVR 250/350

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\hcwPVRP2\DriverData]
    "HcwSaveEncoderSettings"=dword:00000001

    As for Recording Volume you may was well forget that rigth now there is no actually way to make it tweakable rigth now but there is plan for it you just have wait for like me and min other that need this to.
    Faster activation of Pause/Record sorry I can't help with that if Amontillado trick didn't work on WinTV2000.

    shs,

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\hcwPP2\DriverData]
    "HcwSaveEncoderSettings"=dword:00000001

    I tried this and when I reboot the default settings come back, any suggestions?

  12. Hi. I'm new to the forum. I've been using a Pinnacle Studio PCTV for a few years with Virtual VCR, with excellent results. Got a WinTV PVR-150 for the hardware MPEG encoding. So far I've been disappointed in the sharpness. Not nearly as good as the PCTV card. I've tried the sharpness registry change. It had no effect. I've also tried the graphedit fixes. Adjusting the sharpness slider has no effect, although the other sliders work. Adjusting the "static" settings on the other filter produces only a small improvement. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks

    Again with the audio problems, for some like myself who don't have this problem. As for the sharpness I just made a short cut and put it in startup to run the MS Graphedit program. My picture output is sharp and clear, the sound is excellent. Finally got my rebates for two Media MVP 1000 $20 each took 2 months to get $40 bucks from Haupauge!. Now waiting on $30 bucks for bying the WinTV PVR-150.

    With some luck I should have my PVR-150 back from Hauppauge. I recieved an email that it was being shipped back but there was no information on what they found or even if they fixed the audio issue.

    I for one am quite disappointed with my PVR-150. Even if they did fix the audio there is still the sharpness issue. The most frustrating thing about this is the silence and lack of a solution.

    Oh well, live and learn.

    Got my check rebate for $10 Video Card from Circuit City today, now have to wait another month for Hauppauge for the other $20.

    Yeah good luck with the PVR-150, I would have taken it back Circuit City if I had that issue and waited for the newer models to hit the store, which I did get anyway.

    Still a good card to use with GB-PVR and 2 Media MVP 1000.

    What is the "audio problem" of the 150 card? Too loud? Too low? Hiss? What is it?

    The recorded audio is too loud. Others, a different thread, have also reported the audio is not only too loud but is distorted.

    tipstir,

    When I first reported the audio issue it seemed as though there would be a registry fix forthcoming, in fact SHS and others published a few. By the time I realized that nothing was going to work the 14 day return period at Comp USA had passed. I would have liked nothing more than to have returned it and gotten my money back.
