Hello! I subscribe to TVG a live streaming video of Horse racing. My reception is more like a slide show instead of real time action. I use windows XP with a G Force 2 video card, 1.8 gigahertz, 40gigabytes Hard Dive, 800Megabytes of ram. I tried increasing my buffer to 2 minutes with no change. Real One has the contract with TVG so I am stuck with it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I may try ?. Thank you.

speed has more to do with your connection speed than your hardware. Your hardware is good enough to handle it.

Thanks for that bit of information, for some reason "streaming video" isn't a very popular subject. Hopefully others will join in with suggestions. Thanks again.

I'm assuming you have a broadband connection. If you're only using a modem connection, a slide-show style display would make perfect sense. Now ... if you have a broadband connection, what speed (kbps) is the stream they're giving you? If it's anything less than a 150k stream, there are only two possibilities:
1) They are giving customers a substandard stream on purpose.
2) Too many people are accessing the same stream at the same time, causing bandwidth delays at their source server. It could be said that if this is more the rule than the exception, they are ALSO giving customers a substandard stream on purpose.
FWIW, I visited their site and could find no mention whatsoever of the stream speed they offered. That would be question #1 before I'd become a customer. If the stream speed consistently exceeded 150kbps, that would be plenty fast enough to see things in real time. If not, I'd send them a note telling them their service-level is crap ... and tell them I'd file a complaint with the BBB if they didn't refund my money. -
AlecWest, thanks for the info, your comments make a lot of sense to me. I am on DSL and my provider is SBC. I think I will give them a call and see what I can find out. If there service is bad I will have to live with it for at least a year, I just signed up with them.
