Not a clue... they work great on my NEC ND-3500 (Memorex branded, same code), and Liteon drives tend to like CMC. Granted, they aren't Taiyo Yuden, but it's not like they're ultra-crap media either...
-
They work great on my NEC drives and my Benq drive. I think that they should work well with your Liteon as well, provided a decent firmware is on it.
Here's a scan of a disc, burned at 8x on my NEC 2500:
-
well what firmware should i use, for some reason the one on it wont let me burn at 16x with 16x media
-
"should i return them before i open them, or do they work decent "
Just out of curiousity, how do you know what the media code is if you haven't opened them, which you say you haven't?
And as they are 8X ( I bought 100 also ) why would you be pissed that they won't burn at 16X?
I still have CDs that are 24 X that won't burn at 52 on my 52X burner. That doesn't bother me.
Cheers,

OPPS
lol
well under media lists only shows the one, and that 16x was for a differnt topic, but for firmware, i was saying i got some 16x discs that nero says 8max -

go to bestbuy and buy TDK 50pk for $20
it's a lot better than CMC
but remember, pick the made in japan one -
I have a Sony DRU710a which is supposed to be a Liteon 1633s and it doesn't like CMC MAG E01 even at 4x.
When I do a disc quality scan they look good but of the 12 I've one was the only bad burn I've had so far and 3 others have had gliches in them.
Prodisc F01 does ever worse in my burner. -
yea, looks like office max may just get about 90 back as i wasted about 10 trying to get a burn that had low pif errors, no dice tho
they better take them back or i will raise a lil hell -
Did you follow the suggestions in the link I provided above and use the firmware/write strategies they suggested? The scans they had over there were extremely good with some firmwares.
-
Aye, there's the rub.
A test program says utter crap, they play perfectly on everything you throw it at.
SSSO. Bad media or bad test program?
2 or 300, and the only bad burns I have are errors during the burns, a reject, stops now, spits out the disk. Or a Nero compilation that says "Not up to spec, may be unplayable, and damned if it usually isn't.
Burn and test in the best tester there is, your player.
That is YOUR player. You are backing up your disks, what the hell do you care if it won't play in your brother-in-law's player? You are going to visit the prick, splurge and take the original If IT doesn't work, tell the cheap prick he should have bought a decent player.

u know, people do more then back up movies, some people back up data, i use only decent -r media for that, personal prefernce is all
but yea
also i tried a few tricks, a older 8x drive seemed to like it for a minute, havent played the disc in my standalone yet, but will try it later, got one more drive to try after i finish upgrading some parts on the machine
cheers -

i have tried differnt firms and write strats as sufgested over there, still no dice, bad scans, some seem fine up to the middle some are just all around bad,
-
Define 'bad' - what kind of average/max for your PI and PIF numbers are you getting?
-
after figuring out what strag i should use i got these scan from a 6x burn
i got a decent 8x too, but for now 6x it is
-
There, now try to bash CMC
That scan puts even most Taiyo Yuden discs to shame :P
Now do you understand why I kept asking you if you followed the advice in the thread I posted? -
CMC MAG E01 are the only media I've used that give a good disc quality test score and don't play right in my DVD player.
I will avoid the like the plague from now on.
At least the Prodisc F01 seem to play OK and have a really bad disc quality test score. -
With the Japanese TDK and Maxell media available in such a quantity at a fairly decent price, why run the risk of having buying crap media? Stick with Japanese made Maxells, TDK, and Fujifilm. It isn't worth the hassle involved with "maybe" getting a decent burn out of a CMC.
-
I haven't had a single coaster that I can recall of CMC media, and I've burned around 350 or 400 discs, +R, -R, all speeds and brands. They play fine, never had an issue. CMC is NOT crap media.
I've had no issues with my E01 discs playing fine, either. I even burn my CMC R01 2.4x discs at 8x on my NEC 2500, with PI/PO errors comparable to my TY burns. They burn great on all my burners, my NEC 1300 and 2500, and my Benq 822. They also burn great on my Pioneer Recorder (has a 107 drive inside). I wouldn't call that crap.
I've now got over 300 TY discs, but I honestly have no preference for them over my CMC discs, only reason I even bought the TY discs is because I got them at Best Buy for $20 per 100 discs, so I couldn't pass up that price.
