  1. I have a DVD Movie ripped to my hard drive using DVD Decrypter.

Can anyone tell me how I can now burn this back to a DVDR.

I want to be able to load it into DVD Shrink, but I just keep getting an error when trying to load the ifo file.

I have had a mess around in IFOEdit to try and reconstruct the file and have failed miserably to get it to work so I can load it into DVDShrink.

Sorry if I am being really thick but can anyone explain in really simple terms how I reconstruct the IFO file using IFOEdit. DO I need a .bup file as well?

I have the four VOB files and these seem intact but I am sure I have probably messed up the ifo file by messing around wrongly in IFOEdit. So I guess the question is: With just the VOB files how can I reconstruct an IFO for use in DVDShrink?

    Thanks in advance,

I've seen a bit of new movies with that same problem when trying to back them up. It may be a new anti-backup scheme.

Here was my way around it since I also messed up my IFO file in ifoedit.

Using the program MPEG-VCR, convert each of your VOB to a MPEG-2 stream.

    Import these into TmpgDVD Author.

    Make your chapters and menus.

Process and shrink with DVDShrink,CloneDVD, etc. if needed.

    Burn

  3. Is this really the only method?

Is there no way of reconstructing the IFO file in IFOEdit?

    Thanks,

    Let me get this straight.

You ripped the DVD to your hard drive with DVD Decrypter... in file mode (hence the IFO's).

Now DVD Shrink won't open it?

What exactly is the error you're getting? If you're using the latest Decrypter, there shouldn't be ANY movies that won't open with Shrink after you've ripped them, provided the ripping process went smoothly and without error.

The .BUP is a backup of the .IFO file. Copy the .BUP file and overwrite the .IFO you corrupted with IFOEDIT.

If the 4 VOB files are part of the same titelset (VTS_01_1.VOB through to VTS_01_4.VOB), try this:
http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/test.htm#ifoedit . This will scan through your VOB files and recreate all the necessary BUP and IFO files for you.

If you don't have VTS_01_1.VOB through to VTS_01_4.VOB, could you list what files you have ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
