I am converting "attract mode" sequences from video game screens (with sound) into AVI files. These sequences have very limited colors compared to movies. Is anyone aware of a codec that would be better suited to this task than XViD/DivX?

If a codec works fine for high res video...it will work even better for low res video. No reason to change.
