  1. I finally upgraded to a dvd burner. woohoo.

But I have a few questions.

When I recorded videos on a vcd, it would let me record approximately 18 to 19 videos. But on a dvd it only let's me record between 40 and 45. I thought a dvd was able to do about 6 times more than a regualur cd-r. I was expecting about 100 videos on the dvd.

I went into the videos settings and sniffed around a bit and discovered that the video setting i was using is at 352x240 ( 1/4 D1). I'm using nero to burn these videos but i'm wandering if there's any other program out there in which I can burn at the 352x240 (1/4 D1) format.

The problem is nero is only letting me burn at 352x480 ( half D1).

So i guess in general, my question is, is there anyway to fit more than 40 music videos on a dvd? Quality sizes range from 40meg to about 55 meg.

Anything out there guys? Thanks for all the help in advance.

You can fit up to 20 hours of compliant DVD on a DVD from some of the tests I've done. Even more if you reduce the screen he video to a single color.

To fit more you have to adjust the bitrate, the lower you go means less quality. You can use the VCD spec to create DVD compliant mpeg's which is about the lowest I would consider. Note that the VCD spec is at a fixed bitrate that cannot be changed if you want it to remain compliant. Anything lower than that is not worth it.

See DVD under the What Is section to the left.
