When watching a DVD movie for the first time, and you realize that it's awful, what would you do?

I usually stop the movie and save it for later, when I have absolutely nothing else to watch.

  2. Nope. Hit stop, eject, and pitch it.

I recently saw John Water's "A Dirty Shame". From the very beginning, I suspected it wouldn't be very good. I did however keep watching, hoping it would get better. It didn't.

Resident Evil and it's sequel, I could only take about 20 minutes. I fast forwarded to the action scenes on both movies, but they sucked as much as the rest of the DVD.

"Life Aquatic" is a movie I've been meaning to continue watchig since it's release. Seen about 15 minutes, I think.

Elektra and the Grudge, are movies I had no desire to continue seeing after several minutes of play.

FF to see if it gets better. Then pitch it or change channel.

Since I rent, never buy, "pitch it" means stuff it back into the netflix envelope and hope the next queue items gets here faster.

If a DVD starting as bad, I usually leave it running to the end and watch it or do something else.

I go on the PC and can see the movie running while online.

    Hi,

Depends. If its something I was looking forward to watch I'll skip ahead in hopes of it getting better.

If its something I got out on a whim just to see it once I'll dump it as soon as I give up on it.

Usually I only rent movies I know I'll like. Though I have rented duds like TROY and others before. I try to limit that. I was suprised by MOOSEPORT starring Ray Ramano. That was kind of fun.

Press STOP, eject the DVD and never watch it again.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Is that the one with Christina Ricci? From what I read that movie had been delayed, retooled, rewritten, and then the cast brought back for an almost total reshoot. Guess it didn't do much good.

NO SPACE IN THE POLL for the MODERN ANSWER!

I watch it at 2X with the audio bits dropped out of the sample
POWER DVD 6.0 will enable you to HEAR AUDIO downshifted back in PITCH to correct with little bits left out!
Makes even the most relaxed drama seem terse!
Heightens the suspense in dopy movies by compessing the time frame!

Has to be one of the worst options available.
Imagine telling the director you watched it in 2x!

I was talking about watching "Immortal" later, it seemed to be animation or CG and then all of a sudden everyone was CG and it seemed kind of weird so i blew it off till im really bored with nothing to watch :P and I don't know the chicks name in "cursed" but it's the werewolf movie that just came out tuesday, i picked up the unrated version but it was nothing spectacular 8)

  17. I just take it out & put in another one. Thats why I have the store plan at BB.

Too many character foils is all it takes for me to change to another dvd.

  19. Skip to credits. Makes note of key people that generated the turkey. And never watch anything from them again!

Eject it and return it to the rental place as bad!

Save it for people I dont like as a gift.

If purchased use it for a target!

  20. I can think of one movie that was so bad that I turned it off and even threw away the DVD. It was the American remake of La Femme Nikita starring Bridget Fonda. I had to look up the title on IMDB, Point of No Return. Yeah, about 15 minutes into it I had to turn it off. After watching La Femme Nikita, which is a gem, this movie was just garbage.

I fast forward, hoping for improvement that usually never comes.

  22. I read the boxes first & see if there are comments from anyone important on it. Sometimes postive comments on the box are from newspapers no one reads. I Also check who is in the dvd, e.g famous people.
I stack dvd players, so just switch to another player to watch another dvd.

  23. Fast-forward a bit, watch a little while, maybe fast forward again. If it doesn't improve, eject it. Pitch it or give it away. No, not to an enemy, I don't flatter myself by thinking that others should share my tastes. My wife certainly doesn't.
