I walked into our local Circuit City to check out the I/O MAGIC 16x dual layer burner. I thought about purchasing it for a relative if I could get them to match price Compusa. Once I knew the drive was a actual BENQ 1620 I asked the sales dude if they could match the price with Compusa. He told me where's the sales ad for Compusa. I told him it wasn't in a sales ad but the item is a regular stocked item at Compusa with the regular price of $99.99. The dude told me they don't match price without any sales ad anymore.
I went downstairs to pay for my dvd and asked the cashier why they only match price sales ads. She gave me a example of a customer coming in telling them compusa is only $3.00 so they ended up giving the customer the item at that cost I guess. I am assuming they weren't checking to see if that customer was actually telling them the truth.
Ok, my rant about them is that they only honor price matches with a sales ad. I can understand that policy if the item is on another sales ad like Compusa or Office Depot.
I have in the past asked them to match price Compusa and they did by going to the Compusa website to see if the item was instock or they called the store. Why they wouldn't do that for me today is farked up! In my opinion Circuit City will lose money if they keep the present policy they have. I've gone to stores like Compusa , Office Depot & Office Max where they will match prices and sometimes do the price match without checking if the item is instock at the store you want them to price match from.
Circuit City lost out on $104.00 dollars today so I guess they can afford to lose money. In my opinion other stores like Compusa & Office Depot would rather make some money than to risk getting nothing at all. Which is exactly what Circuit City got from me NOTHING.![]()
Best Buy and Good Guys Electronics will be opening up stores in Honolulu this year and next year. So Circuit City will no longer have the monopoly in Hawaii.![]()

I would have had the CompUSA webpage printout showing the price and asked them to match it.

Many moons ago I had given in and was going to buy a copy of Starcraft. Now it had been out a while, but not long enough for many big price breaks because it was such a hot selling game for so long.
Long story short. I was doing some running around and went to a Best buy first. I could have sworn I saw it at one price. LAter when I went back the few copies they had were gone. So I decided to goto CompUSA who wanted (what I thought was) more for the game.
They tried to call Bestbuy game up and price matched. Only the next day when I was at Bestbuy again did I realize I took the store for like almost $15. -

Well, the manager told me that sales dude should have checked the COMPUSA website and price match the drive. The manager said he was looking at COMPUSA's website and he would match the price of $99.99. I even told this manager that with other big box retailers like BEST BUY & GOOD GUYS ELECTRONICS (which is owned by COMPUSA) opening up here they need to provide better customer service to entice customers to buy products from them because they will no longer have the monopoly once those stores open up. Best Buy will be opening up down the road from them. The guy was speechless after I told him that.
